GeM Registration Fees: What It Really Costs

GeM seller registration is free. The Government e-Marketplace does not charge to create a seller account, complete your profile or get verified. What costs money is everything around it: a Digital Signature Certificate if you also bid on state portals, vendor assessment for some OEM categories, and a consultant if you choose to hire one.

Do you need a consultant to register on GeM?

No. If your PAN, GST and bank records carry exactly the same legal name and your certificates are current, you can register yourself in an afternoon — our step-by-step GeM registration guide walks through it. People hire help when they are short of time, when category mapping is unclear, or after a rejection. The most common rejection causes are name mismatches and expired certificates.

Frequently asked questions

Is GeM registration free?

Yes. Registering as a seller on gem.gov.in is free. You need PAN, GST registration, Aadhaar of the authorised signatory and bank details; Udyam registration unlocks MSE benefits such as EMD exemption.

Do I need a DSC for GeM registration?

GeM seller registration normally does not require a DSC. Most state e-procurement portals do, and they need a Class 3 certificate.

Are there any other GeM charges after registration?

GeM's seller-side rules, such as caution money and vendor assessment, have changed over time. Check the current schedule on gem.gov.in or in your seller dashboard before you quote, and build any charge into your price.

How long does GeM registration take?

About 20–30 minutes of form filling if your documents are ready, followed by GeM's verification window of 2–5 working days.
