How government tendering works in India
Central ministries, PSUs and many state departments buy goods and services on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM). Works contracts and state-specific purchases are published on each state's e-procurement portal. One GeM seller registration covers buyers in every state; each state portal needs its own vendor registration and a Class 3 Digital Signature Certificate. Our list of state tender portals has the details.
Frequently asked questions
Where can I find all government tenders in India?
Central and state tenders are spread across GeM, the Central Public Procurement Portal and each state's e-procurement site. We collect GeM and 13 state portals into one feed, refreshed four times a day, and you can filter it by state, category, closing date and EMD exemption.
Is GeM registration free?
Yes. Creating a seller account on GeM is free and fully online. You need PAN, GST, Aadhaar of the authorised signatory and bank details; Udyam registration unlocks MSE benefits.
Do MSEs have to pay EMD on government tenders?
No, for central government and GeM tenders. GFR 2017 Rule 170 exempts Micro and Small Enterprises from bid security; buyers may ask for a Bid Security Declaration instead. On GeM, traders do not get the exemption.
How often is this tender list updated?
The feed refreshes four times a day. Closing dates and values come from the official portals; always confirm details in the tender document before bidding.
